France has one of the largest economies in the world.

A member of the G8 group of leading industrialised countries, it is ranked as the fifth or sixth largest economy by nominal GDP depending on source.

 The World Bank, in 2008, estimated France's GDP in 2006 to be US$1,959,745 million, or seventh largest in the world by PPP.
